Arbor Day Foundation Memberships
Reducing carbon impact is critical to slowdown the impacts of global warming. Simple changes work for most people. Changing over to LED bulbs, keeping tires on your vehicle inflated properly, keeping your vehicle maintained in proper operating condition, using solar if possible and more than anything, just thinking about energy usage and changing how you use energy in small ways.
My wife and I have solar hot water on the house, use LED bulbs, purchased all Energy Star appliances, a new AC unit for the house, turn-off lights when not in a room, try to not have “vampire” plugs for phones and electronic devices, we sealed every leak in the house and added a serious level of insulation to our 1938 home.
For the rest of this year, for every assignment, I am going to give a membership in the Arbor Day Foundation to whomever the client wants. A membership in the foundation supports their efforts to reforest communities - plus - they give you ten trees that are indigenous to your zip code. You can plant them with your children, give them to neighbors or a community organization.
I plan to give mine to several neighbors that have children plus plant two saplings in our yard. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and help control emissions. A small effort but one that is worth doing.
